Core Beliefs
At Greater Refuge Temple Church, we stand firmly upon the apostolic doctrine as preached by the apostles and recorded in the Word of God. We believe in the One true and living God, revealed fully in Jesus Christ, and we are committed to the salvation of souls, the power of the Holy Ghost, and the holiness of life.
Our mission is to be a refuge for all people—proclaiming truth, demonstrating love, and building lives through the transforming power of the gospel. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and we follow the New Testament plan of salvation, as declared in Acts 2:38: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Greater Refuge Temple is a place where truth is preached, lives are changed, and Jesus is Lord. We invite you to grow with us in faith, worship, and the power of the Spirit.
1. The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, and the final authority for doctrine and salvation.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God..." – 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
2. One God
We believe in One God, who has revealed Himself as Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Ghost in regeneration. His name is Jesus.
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD." – Deuteronomy 6:4 (KJV)
"God was manifest in the flesh..." – 1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
3. Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, fully God and fully man. He is the visible image of the invisible God and the only name given for salvation.
"In him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." – Colossians 2:9 (KJV)
"Neither is there salvation in any other..." – Acts 4:12 (KJV)
4. Salvation
We believe the New Testament plan of salvation is:
5. The Holy Ghost
We believe the Holy Ghost is essential for salvation. It is the Spirit of Christ living in the believer, giving power to live a holy life, and is initially evidenced by speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.
"Ye must be born again." – John 3:5 (KJV)
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues..." – Acts 2:4 (KJV)
6. Holiness
We believe that believers are called to live a life of separation from sin and dedication to God, both inwardly and outwardly. Holiness is a work of the Spirit and a response of love and obedience.
"Be ye holy; for I am holy." – 1 Peter 1:16 (KJV)
"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." – Hebrews 12:14 (KJV)
7. The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ and was born on the Day of Pentecost. It continues today in power and truth through the same Apostolic doctrine and Spirit-filled experience.
"And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine..." – Acts 2:42 (KJV)
8. The Second Coming of Christ
We believe that Jesus is coming again to catch away His Church (the Rapture). We look forward to His return and eternal life with Him.
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout..." – 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 (KJV)
